A portable news dashboard made for Haris Agar. Explore the regional maps and public headlines, or share this website’s address with friends.
The dashboard attempts a news fetch on opening, then every five minutes while the page is open. GDELT provides indexed public reporting; BBC World and Al Jazeera RSS via RSS2JSON are fallback news feeds. If the Al Jazeera feed cannot be converted, the dashboard checks GDELT for indexed English Al Jazeera articles instead; these may be delayed. Upstream indexing and caching can delay stories. This is periodically refreshed news, not second-by-second military tracking. Feeds can be unavailable, rate-limited or blocked by a browser. Source health reports failures; stored headlines keep their original timestamps.
Orange markers mean that a headline mentions a country or selected city. They sit at approximate reference points and do not locate an incident. Clicking a marker filters news. Air, naval and ground routes are entirely fictional visual demonstrations with no unit identities, country attribution, or operational meaning.
Headlines can be incomplete, wrong or duplicated across publishers. A link identifies the reporting source, not independent confirmation. Topic and country tags are simple keyword matches; a mention does not establish involvement. No data source offers complete worldwide troop, military aircraft or warship positions. This dashboard does not provide tactical tracking.
Non-English headlines are machine translated into English using MyMemory. If translation is unavailable, those headlines are omitted for that update. Their article links open Google Translate with English selected. Publisher restrictions, paywalls or regional availability may prevent full-page translation. English-language reports open directly on the publisher website.
Recent headlines are cached in your browser when permitted. News requests go to the listed providers. Non-English headline text is sent to MyMemory for translation; translated article links send the public article URL to Google Translate. No login is needed to view this dashboard.
